Broad Hinton Email Service

Get yourself a Broad Hinton email address. For example:

Your.Name@broadhinton.org.uk

If you already have an email address, you can have email to your Broad Hinton address simply forwarded to your existing address. If you use an email program like Outlook Express or Windows Mail, then you can set up your email program to use multiple email accounts. Details on how to do this are in the section below. If you want to access your email from a web browser, details for that are also in a section below.

If you are interested - please contact Steve.Cutler@broadhinton.org.uk

We are asking a small fee of £2 for providing this service to help cover the cost of maintaining this website.

Email forwarding

This is the simplest option. Just provide the email address that you would like all email forwarded to and any message sent to your Broad Hinton email account will be immediately forwarded to the address that you have provided. If you need this changed at some point - just provide the new address for forwarding and your Broad Hinton account can be updated.

Using an Email program

If you use an email program like Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail - you can create a new email account that your email program will automatically download messages from. Here are the directions for Outlook Express version 6. Other mail programs will be similar.

In the menu bar, click Tools, then click Accounts.

A dialogue box will open titled Internet Accounts. Click the Add button then click Mail.

The Internet Connection Wizard opens and asks for a Display Name. Typically you enter your name here - but you can enter any name you like if you want to be a bit different. Click the Next button.

In the next page of the Wizard - enter the email address provided for your Broad Hinton account. This will look something like: Your.Name@broadhinton.org.uk. Click the next button.

In the next page of the Wizard, set your incoming mail server to be a POP3 server. In the second field type the server name exactly like this: pop.broadhinton.org.uk. For the outgoing mail server name type the name exactly like this: smtp.broadhinton.org.uk. Click the next button.

In the next page, in the account name field, enter your email address, and in the password field, enter the password given to you when your account was created. Make sure the remember password box is checked. Make sure the Secure Password Authentication box is NOT checked. Click the Next button. In the next page click the Finish button.

You should see the new email account listed with any other accounts you may have. One more change to make - click on the new mail account and then click the Properties button. A new window will open - click the Servers tab at the top, then check the box titled: My server requires authentication. Then click the OK button.

If you have more than 1 mail account setup - you can chose which one is the default when you create new email. Just click the preferred account and the click the Set as Default button. Then click Close.

In the toolbar buttons you can now use the Send/Recv button to send and receive for all account or just one of them.

Using a Web Browser

If you just like accessing email through your browser, just use this URL to get to the login screen for your account:

http://webmail.webhosting.lycos.co.uk/login/

Enter your full email address and your password and you should be able to access all your email.
