Watermill Theatre – “Some Like It Hotter” Tuesday 21st February 2012 - SOLD OUT
Overview
Great movie stars never die – they just sparkle on forever. It’s September, 2010 and at long last funny man Jack Lemmon and the incomparable Marilyn Monroe are reunited with old friend Tony Curtis. But how come Tony looks thirty again? Where exactly are they? Who is the stranger on the set? And what the hell is going on? This brand new, fast moving, fantasy comedy whisks the three screen icons back to their most beautiful, sexy and hilarious selves as they are forced once again to don heels and stockings and go backstage during the making of the best loved of all the classic Hollywood comedies. Daring dialogue and razor-sharp wisecracks, sparkling musical numbers and red hot jazz. Join us for the most surprising comeback in movie history, starring Monroe, Curtis and Lemmon – dead, uncut and hotter than ever. Now that’s entertainment!

With just 2 months to go, it’s time to work out what you are entering this year. The show is purely for fun, a chance to demonstrate your skills (or lack of them!).
There are several trophies up for grabs:
Broad Hinton Special Award Anyone can win this; it’s awarded to the person who has entered the most classes in the show, no matter what the standard of the entry (as long as it’s within the rules!)
DDP Little bit more expertise needed here, as this is awarded to the person who obtains the most points in the show, so your exhibits have to come first (5 points), second (3 points) or third (1 point), all the points then being added together
Pearl Tarry Plate Got a speciality? Then there’s a chance you could win this, as it’s awarded for the best exhibit in the show
The John Hussey Cup Youngsters have a chance to bring home the silver too; this is awarded to the best children’s exhibit (0-17 yrs)
There are trophies are awarded to the exhibitor with the most points in a particular Category:
The Taylor Cup Needlework The Hutchings Trophy Art The Wightman Cup Craft The Village Shop Shield Preserves The Crockett Cup Baking The Crown Inn Tankard Drink The Gardiner Trophy Horticulture
All the trophies have been donated by village organisations or individuals over the years and we were allowed to use them for this resurrected Show by kind permission of the Broad Hinton WI, who originally instigated the show some years ago and whose talents we attempt to emulate with varying degrees of success!
Below are the Entry forms and Rules. The completed form can be returned to the village shop, or emailed back to Debbie Morshead; no payment is due until the day itself. Or you can bring the form with you when you drop off your exhibit on the morning of the show (between 9.30am and 11.30am). If you have problems with dropping exhibits off at this time, other arrangements can be made.
At last year’s show, more than once the phrase ‘ I could have entered that’ was heard; why not have a go this year?
If you would like further information or have a query, or would like to help on the day (extra hands always welcome), please contact Debbie Morshead on 01793 731456 or email d.morshead@btinternet.com Attached entry form and 2012 rules;

Watermill Theatre - Love On The Tracks Saturday 26th May 2012
On a summer’s evening in 1890, a train pulls out of Moscow station. On board sit three fretful passengers, each with an extraordinary tale to tell. As their stories are played out in a series of delightful comic vignettes, the drama in the carriage tantalisingly unfolds.
Love on the Tracks is a romantic comedy inspired by the early stores and farces of Anton Chekhov. Checkhov is best known for his later work but in his twenties, he published more than 500 shorts works of fiction. Full of light hearted humour and wonderfully eccentric characters, Love on the Tracks presents a 19th century world of dysfunctional marriage, traumatic romance and rampant infidelity – in a very modern way.
Richard Attlee, best known for his role as Kenton Archer in The Archers, performs in this delightful play.
“Love on the Tracks is a first-rate piece – sharp, imaginative and extremely funny”- Tim Carroll, Theatre Director.
Length: 100 minutes including interval.
Tickets cost £10 each and £8 concessions. E-mail John Hutchings at hutchingsjohn@hotmail.com or tel: 01793 731050

EASY FUND RAISING
To help us raise additional funding for the Village hall we have signed up with “Easy Fund Raising” this is an organisation that works with large retailers and sets up donations for different types of charitable organizations if products are purchased from them. So for example if you purchased a TV via John Lewis, they would contribute 2.5% of the value of the purchase to Broad Hinton Village Hall. Easy Fund then sends us any contributions that are awarded for Broad Hinton Village Hall as a result of donations obtained via your purchases. In 2010 we were given just over £150 as result of people buying goods via Easy Fund.
The more of us that us the Easy Fund web site to purchase our goods the more money we raise for Broad Hinton Village Hall. To access the Easy Fund web site please use the attached web site address.
